BERGOLO
DIGITALE
The village of stones
The village of the open air museum
Story of Bergolo Digitale
From the 70’s to 90’s, Bergolo was very well-known for a huge music festival that fascinated a lot of people interested in cultural activities. However, due to the mass migration to the city and the suspension of the festival, Bergolo has lost its vitality, the village is dying. From 1993, the municipality started to hold an art contest as a way to revitalize the vibe in the town and attract visitors to get over a decline in population and economic slump. Every year, it chooses the best piece amongst entries that would be exhibited in the village. Now, Bergolo has become an open-air gallery with 68 unique and creative art objects.

A high number of visitors are attracted not only to the nature and the environment of the village but also to the artistic heritage. We believe that the digitalization of the heritage will help us to achieve sustainable economic development, cultural education and training, research, and the provision of employment opportunities, especially for young people.

With the Bergolo Digitale project, we want to achieve the digitalization of the artistic and cultural heritage in Bergolo so everyone could reach it at any time only with their digital devices.
Who we are?
We are a group of 2 partner NGOs and the municipality of Bergolo that are participating in it as main parties together with 8 international organizations and 1 restaurant, aiming for the vitalization of the region and conservation of cultural heritage.
Vagamondo is an NGO involved in international mobility projects and sustainable development of the town. New Wellness Education specializes in the education of local and international youth and training of professionals, aiming to develop their competencies. And the municipality of Bergolo.
Vicky, one of the members of the team was participating in an ESC project called ‘Vitality’ offered by Vagamondo as a volunteer. The goal of the project is to bring vitality and dynamism in different levels. When finding artistic heritage in Bergolo, she came up with a brilliant idea of its digitalization to preserve it and share its value with people. Now she is happily working on the project, turning her idea into reality.
Yesoo is an intern at Vagamondo, supporting ‘Vitality’ and the development of tourism in Bergolo. With her academic background and interest in tourism and heritage study, she’s working on the ‘Bergolo Digitale’ project. She’s very glad that she’s getting hands-on experience and contributing to the development of the rural site for the local community.

What we want to do?
With the Bergolo Digitale project, we would like to archive artistic and cultural heritage in Bergolo in a single digital platform, and give easy access to the public through QR codes that will lead them to the website with audiovisual contents. We believe that the digitalization of heritage enables better conservation, restoration, research, and promotion of the region by awakening the public cultural awareness and interest in heritage.

From the 70’s to 90’s, Bergolo was well-known for a huge music festival. However, due to the mass migration to the city and the suspension of the festival, Bergolo has lost its vitality. From the late 90’s, the municipality started to hold an art contest as a way to revitalize the cultural vibe in the town and attract visitors. Now, Bergolo has become an open-air gallery with 68 unique and creative art objects.

We hope to make Bergolo as a cultural center of Langhe area that inspires people, creating the best practice of cultural activities that benefits the local community not only economically but also culturally and make them proud of their own village.
Be partners with us!
Although we are all together making an effort for the Bergolo Digitale project, we still need more hands. It’s challenging for us to promote and implement the project due to the lack of resources. We would really appreciate your participation and support as a new partner of our project.
There are several ways of supporting us: financial support; promotion; and collaboration.
As a way to get funding, we are planning to get crowdfunding through produzionidalbasso platform. You could support us either directly or through a crowdfunding page that will be released in April. We would also really appreciate it if you promote our project and crowdfunding with your partner organizations and members through diverse channels such as social media. If you have any experience, knowledge or skills that can be contributed to our project, you are very welcome as our new partner making collaboration with us.
If you become our partner, your NGO’s name will be on our official website for Bergolo Digitale, our social media and newsletter. We believe that it can be a good opportunity to promote your organization and build up experience in interdisciplinary projects as well! Of course, when you need any support and help in the future, we will have your back as a partner.
If the project sounds interesting to you, come join us!
